This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and we are supporting this here at SoundSkool. We made the decision last year to place Mental Health and Wellbeing at the heart of our curriculum and therefore this is a cause that we are hugely championing here at the college.
We have employed Simone (Afrolicious Mama) who is our well being lead and coordinator. Students have weekly lessons around methods and practices to help ourselves with keeping our minds healthy.
Simone also provided drop in 121 meetings where students can book in & discuss, ask questions and work on their personal plans for a healthier mind.
We are sharing services that are available outside the college so students have options if they feel they need help… Big ups to Young Minds, Crisis UK, Childline and Samaritans.
We have been practising lots and see below some of the activities the students have been using:
- Meditation
- Drumming Circles
- Positive Affirmations
- Healthy Eating
- Exercise
- Yoga
- Gratitude
- Talking To People You Love
- Drinking Water
