ABOUT SOUNDSKOOL

Established in 2008, SoundSkool is a specialist music industry college and community for 16–18 year olds, offering a vibrant, exciting and creative learning environment specifically designed to give students the best start in their music careers.

SoundSkool offers a creative and career-focused alternative to traditional sixth form or mainstream college. A unique music learning environment where students can thrive—combining hands-on learning in professional studios and rehearsal spaces, real industry experiences, and personalised support. It’s the perfect place for young people who want to turn their love of music into a future career. Based in the heart of Old Street, London. We’re proud of our strong community foundations, inclusive ethos, and network of industry connections and creative partnerships.

We offer fully-funded, full-time Level 2 and Level 3 courses in Music Production & Business and Music Performance & Business. These courses are designed to empower the next generation of music artists, music producers, and music entrepreneurs.

As an accredited RSL (Rock School London) centre, our qualifications are delivered through a dynamic, hands-on curriculum that brings together:

Alongside all of this, we support our students with personal development, life skills, and wellbeing, because we know that thriving in music also means thriving as a person.

Our Level 3 RSL qualifications are UCAS-accredited and equivalent to three A-levels, offering clear progression routes into university or higher education, as well as pathways into music industry internships, freelance opportunities, or launching a professional career in music.

Our courses support students at all levels—whether you’re just starting out or already developing your craft. You’ll build your technical skills, deepen your industry knowledge, and grow in confidence to take those next big steps toward your future in the music industry.

All SoundSkool students also explore the business side of the music world, because understanding how the industry works is just as important as your creative talent.

Students take part in a wide range of exciting activities at the college. These include industry-led masterclasses, real-world work experience placements, live performances and showcases, professional mentoring, creative trips, and meaningful community music projects.

At SoundSkool, we believe in changing young people’s lives through music. That means more than a qualification – it’s about building a creative community where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to shine.

At SoundSkool, we are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team of tutors and practitioners—each one a qualified creative educator and experienced music industry professional. Our teaching goes far beyond the classroom and studios at SoapBox. Learning here is enriched by our powerful partnerships with established music industry organisations, as well as an enhanced programme of industry mentorship, masterclasses, and hands-on work experience.

SoundSkool began at grassroots level, born from a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of young people across North and Inner London. We started back in 2008 as a community-led organisation, working directly with young people in the local area—connecting with young people through the power of music.

We recognised early on that many of London’s young creatives needed qualifications that were relevant, inspiring, and accessible. Traditional education pathways weren’t always speaking their language, so we developed something different—something better. And in 2012, SoundSkool Music Industry College was officially formed.
Today, SoundSkool delivers a specialist, industry-focused music curriculum from our professional studios and learning spaces in Islington, offering young people a clear path into the creative industries. We also continue our mission through community outreach, delivering programmes with schools and partners across London.
Everything we do is rooted in our belief that music changes lives. At SoundSkool, we make that belief a reality—by creating a space where young people are seen, heard, and supported to thrive.
