Level 2 Music Production, Music Performance & Music Business
Our bespoke level 2 music course provides a broad overview of a range of music topics that will develop your musicianship skills, music production skills and broaden your music business knowledge. This introductory course will support your educational journey into a career in music and offer you an insight into how the music industry works.
Entry Requirements
- 5 GCSEs at Grade 2-3 including English & maths.
- Demonstrable basic music knowledge & skills.
- Good school references and school report.
- You will also need to successfully complete your interview and audition.
What happens if I don't have a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or maths?
If you do not achieve a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or maths, it is mandatory that you continue working towards these qualifications as part of your course. At SoundSkool, this means you’ll attend college on an additional day each week to complete your English and/or maths studies alongside your music qualification.

HOW TO APPLY:
- STAGE ONE: Pick your course and click ‘APPLY NOW’ to fill out our online application form.
- STAGE TWO: We’ll request your latest school report from your parent or guardian and also get a reference from your school. Once we’ve received a good review of your attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and work ethic, we’ll invite you to the next stage—an audition and interview at the college. This is your opportunity to show us your passion for music and get a feel for what it’s like to be part of the SoundSkool community

- STAGE THREE: We’ll send you all the details you need to prepare for your audition and interview.
- STAGE FOUR: If you're successful at your audition and interview, we’ll offer you a conditional place to start with us in September!
Level 2 Course Overview
Unlock your full musical potential with our Level 2 Music Production, Performance & Business course. Designed for those with a passion for music and a drive to enhance their skills, this course offers a dynamic blend of practical and theoretical learning.
You’ll dive into the basics of music production, performance, and business—honing your skills in each area. Our tailored curriculum will help you develop your music theory, musicianship, production techniques, music business knowledge, studio recording, composition and songwriting. Throughout the course, we’ll encourage your creative expression through music. A great mix!
With access to 1:1 and group lessons in vocals, keyboard, production software or guitar, you’ll receive personalised guidance to help you progress at your own pace. You’ll also have the opportunity to showcase your work at regular SoundSkool live events, gaining valuable performance experience or showcasing your productions.
This course goes beyond the classroom, studio and rehearsal spaces—preparing you for a successful future in the music industry. You’ll learn about the many ways to earn money in music, explore music marketing, and get a head start with industry work experience, networking opportunities and masterclasses with established music professionals.
Whether you’re ready to perform on stage or create behind the scenes, this course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to take the next step in your musical journey.

All SoundSkool students take part in weekly tutorial and progression sessions, designed to help you plan your next steps with confidence. If you’re starting at Level 2, you’ll be supported throughout the year to build the skills and experience you need to progress onto our Level 3 course.
