SOUNDSKOOL IS BACK AND WE’RE NOW BASED IN THE BOROUGH OF CAMDEN!!
With huge thanks to all your hardwork and support, we are very excited and pleased to announce that SoundSkool and Wac Arts College will now be working in partnership from September 2018 to deliver a Level 3 college provision from their base in Belsize Park.
With over thirty years of experience, Wac Arts College provides creative arts and media courses for 14-19 year olds in order to prepare them for a future in the creative industry. We at SoundSkool are extremely proud to be forming a new partnership with Wac Arts College, meaning that SoundSkool is now back in action for the upcoming academic year. We would like to use this opportunity thank the amazing team at Wac Arts College; our shared values and vision will make an exciting and dynamic partnership.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our staff, students and supporters who worked tirelessly this summer to make sure SoundSkool was able to continue the amazing work it has been doing with young people over the last ten years.
WHAT DOES THE SOUNDSKOOL 2018/19 PROGRAMME LOOK LIKE?
We will be running a smaller, more exclusive music provision for 30 students over 3 days per week at WAC Arts in Camden. Throughout this time, our students will also be studying at other venues throughout Camden.
SoundSkool are now currently enrolling for our Level 3 music courses only, these courses will be starting in Sept 2018.

WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY TO SOUNDSKOOL?
– Level 2 RSL Diploma for Music Practitioners, or demonstrable musical experience
– 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9 Level 1 Functional Skills English or above
Our Level 3 course is split across two years; in the first year you will complete the Level 3 sub-diploma. Following this, there is the the option to go on to achieve the full extended diploma in the second year.
The Level 3 course is our flagship course and offers the most comprehensive introduction to the music industry that you will find on offer. You will be able to develop your skills in music production, songwriting and performance to a professional standard, providing you with the tools necessary to progress in this very competitive industry.
You will develop a thorough understanding of how the music industry works and create the tools and resources necessary to start a career, find freelance work or even launch your own business. You will develop your knowledge of copyright and intellectual property, build your own website, create a business plan and deliver an elevator pitch.
As a producer you will learn to work to an industry brief, create music in a range of different genres and record and mix musicians in our master studio. You will look in depth at synthesis, sampling and sound engineering; create the music and sound FX for a short video and develop live production techniques using Ableton Push.
As a performer you will develop your instrument/voice, artistic image and persona. You will have the opportunity to perform at music industry based internal and external events, audition for TV and music industry showcases, record your own material in our inhouse studio, create your own music video and build your profile as an artist.
Our Level 3 course is an RSL accredited course, with the following credentials:
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I ACHIEVE AT SOUNDSKOOL?
(1 Year) Level 3 RSL Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners – up to 84 UCAS Points
(2 Years – Optional) Level 3 RSL Extended Diploma for Music Practitioners – up to 168 UCAS points
Our courses are split into either a performance or production pathway, depending on whether you are interested in learning music production or music performance. When there is an industry or masterclass session, classes will be joined together.
We already have a range of exciting masterclasses, showcases, performance opportunities, auditions, work experience and much more lined up for the upcoming year. This year at SoundSkool students will have the opportunity to develop on a more individual level – smaller numbers will mean a more student centred and personal approach to learning.
ON THE LEVEL 3 COURSE AT SOUNDSKOOL YOU WILL LEARN:
- Advanced music production skills on Logic and Ableton
- Professional songwriting techniques
- To create resources, online and offline, to help launch your career in the music business
- To perform and perfect a live set as a performer or session musician
- Exclusive access to industry relevant opportunities and auditions
- To develop your music theory, piano and guitar skills
- To professionally release and promote your own music

- You will also get the opportunity to work towards achieving your GCSEs in maths and English if you haven’t achieved a grade 4 or above already.
